Transcription: Acne is caused by the accumulation of natural secretions around the hair follicles in the skin. As these oily secretions mix with dirt and are acted on by bacteria, the follicles and surrounding tissues may become inflamed. When a follicle or pore becomes plugged by excess secretion, it will bulge forming a whitehead.
